Paul is a friend of mine who was kind enough to let me take photos of him practising on his punch bag.
The whole shoot took place in his single garage so it was a very tight space but we managed to get a great set of photos of him honing his lethal right hook!
The whole shoot from start to end lasted less than a couple hours with the odd tea break. It was a lot of fun trying out different ideas, lighting styles and playing around with props - although I didn't get to use my new smoke machine as we ran out of time. Maybe next time!
"The Before Shot" :)
To start things off I spent some time taking photos of Paul simply putting on his wraps.
We decided to use white wraps so they'd contrast nicely with other aspects of the image.
Starting off with a simple activity helped Paul settle in to the shoot and feel comfortable.
Paul allowed me to cover his punchbag in talc, and I think the results were worth it!
There's a real sense of power from the impact.
This is one of my favourites from the shoot. The combination of emotion, lighting and colour work together nicely.
